Seku Bi is an intimate boutique hotel located on Dakar’s petite corniche, facing the Atlantic Ocean. Behind you, the Place d’Independance and the bustling city, in front of you, only the sea and beautiful sunsets.
We have 7 rooms spread across two French colonial villas that are filled with carefully picked contemporary art from the continent. We have equipped every room with high speed Internet, personalized climate control and fully modern bathrooms but we’ve decided to keep the heritage of the building, like the original terrazzo floors and the thick white walls. Open your window and let the ocean winds sweep in. You won’t want to leave.

Sometime around 750 CE, a goat herder from the Kaffa region in Ethiopia noticed his goats becoming exciting and dancing after eating bright red berries. After chewing on the fruit himself, he too felt the energizing effects and rushed home to tell the village monks.
Deeming the berries a sinful drung, the monks tossed them into the flames, an action followed by the all too familiar small of roasting beans.
Intruiged from the aroma, the monks then raked the roasted beans from the golden embers, ground them and dissolved them in hot water, yielding the world's first cup of coffee.
Many years later, Mussolini's troops arrived, however they quickly dropped their arms after seeing Ethiopia's beautiful women. While they didn't conquer Ethiopia, they did build the finest coffee machines in the world which have become an integral part of Ethiopian coffee culture.
Today, coffee or "Buunna" remains a vital communal ritual in Ethiopia. Our mission is to serve you coffee maintaining the reputation, heritage and tradition of Ethiopia coffee.
We hope our coffee makes you want to dance.
Abdou Fall is the Chef of Il Pappagallo, the Italian restaurant at Seku Bi, Dakar.
After spending 2 years as junior sous Chef at the 2-Michelin-star Mandarin Oriental in London and 1 year at Bruno Loubet’s Grain Store, this new venture will add a more personal dimension to Fall's career as he returns to his country of birth Senegal, bringing with him the tradition of Italian cuisine from his childhood in Torino.
Fall created the very well received menu combining fresh finds from the local market with the finest Italian ingredients and presenting both traditional Italian menus for lunch and dinner and a menu Aperitivo Mulato where he combines his personal influences and inspirations from his childhood in Italy, with his Senegalese roots in dishes such as the Pizza Nero infused with squid ink just like its done in the traditional bread of his town of birth Saint-Louis.
He has mastered the skill of combining both local Senegalese and Italian products in a way that represents the future of our ever globalizing world.
